I have a 4 to 5-bar signal thanks to a Wi-Ex booster. When the iPhone is in a case, it’s all fine. Notice how the signal goes down to 1 bar without sleeve, then back to 5 bars inside a sleeve. I ran the test twice in the video: each time, it takes about 30 seconds to drop to 1 bar and 20 seconds to jump back to 5 bars. You can see in my other video (The IMMEDIATE Grip-of-Death) how it affects the downloads over a 3G connection, halting all data transfers when it drops to 1 bar. It can’t be a simple bug with how many bars are displayed. Please, Apple, don’t tell me there isn’t a problem with a non-insulated antenna!

Question by morsecode: What happens if I order the iPhone 4 but do not activate it?
I ordered the iPhone 4 to have it delivered, replacing an existing voice plan. The instructions are to activate it through iTunes so that my old phone stuff will transfer to the new one. What happens if I don’t do this and simply either keep the iPhone inactive, or jailbreak it?

Well, it’s your choice to do with it whatever you would like to. You can wait for a jailbreak/unlock for the iPhone 4, and then hacktivate (jailbreak and unlock) your phone so that you can use it on whichever carrier you wish. They cannot do anything to your phone, but if you created a plan with AT&T, you may have some problems if you do not activate it within a certain time frame. I would suggest speaking to your AT&T executive about this. On the other hand, why would you unlock it if you would be on AT&T anyways, if you know what I am saying. If you are on AT&T and just want to jailbreak it for the extra features and themes, then go ahead an activate it, and if a jailbreak for the iPhone 4 is released, then just restore your iPhone to iOS 4 and go about the jailbreak process. I’m certainly not trying to pizz anyone off with an Anti-Technology rant here, but I honestly believe devices like the Iphone, Blackberry and Android have become an American preoccupation that has dumbed-downed our populace by trivializing our communication. Although these devices certainly have their merits and cool-factor, they’ve only made most of us dependent on instant communication and instant gratification. Being connected to the grid all the time isn’t a good idea, in my opinion. Yeah, I know everyone has voice mail and can ignore whatever they want to, but the question of ‘why didn’t you respond to my text, or email, or voice mail’ will always remain with many. These people require help. I mean, what did we all do before you could bug me all day all day long? I liked you better back then. Instant communication hasn’t brought us together, it’s ripped us apart. It was better when I didn’t have to understand your every waking move. I don’t care that you have an app that keeps you up on the NFL at every waking moment. I don’t care that you can do Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Myspace from the damn thing. I more wonder if you’ve gotten any actual work done at your job while you were viewing the updates and responding to everyone in the entire world. I actually preferred a time where a separation existed and I could worry about my entertainment and personal issues on my own time. This increases my productivity. I’m considering buying a iPhone 4 when it’s released here (NZ) without a contract or a plan. Is it possible to take it overseas and set it up with the local network and get a new number?
I’m planning to move overseas and I’m kinda on the fence about all this.

Bug in iOS 4 that resets folder settings and rearranges apps into alphabetical order. Steps to replicate: 1) Get two screens “stuck” in the middle like in the video. 2) Hold an icon to arrange apps. Upon release of finger, the two screens will “unstick” and one app will disappear. 3) Power off your iOS device. 4) Turn on your device. At this point, all folders are gone and apps are reset into alphabetical order.

Question by troutmandavis: How long will my iPhone 4 be on backorder?
I recently ordered a 16gb iPhone 4 on July 5th. When I call to track the order it tells me the phone is on back order. What does this mean and how much longer will it be until they ship the phone out?

i ordered mine july 7th and they told me 5 to 10 days at the most but now it says backordered so i called and they said several weeks but they said for sure it give it another week
