1 fps time-lapse of the reception problem I been having for many hours now. The reception is oscillating between 4bars & no bars constantly. I am unable to make calls. Before this started my reception was always between 3-5 bars at my home and I have owned 3 of the 4 generations of iphones so I am familiar with At&t’s signal at home. I am running 4.0.1.

I have an iPhone 4 jailbroken with limera1n on 4.1 but when 4.2 comes out I want to upgrade to that but I want to keep my cydia packages and cydia downloads, how can I do this?

Not a good idea, because most likely a lot of those apps will have to be modified to work with iOS 4.2.

But you can use the free computer program “Cyder 2″ to grab the source list and package list from your Cydia. Then you can sort to view all of the installed packages, then go down the list and re-download them on your computer so you have the .deb files handy. (when you get a deb from cydia, it’s deleted once it is unpackaged). You can then load the source list and package list back on to your cydia, then move the .deb files to /var /root /Media /Cydia /AutoInstall /
and a reboot, open cydia, and respring will ensure all is back to normal. That is, if you load the 4.1 packges on to a freshly jailbroken 4.1… no guarantees about compatibility between 4.1 and 4.2.

Cyder 2 is great for backing up your Cydia in case you go “man, this 4.2 is overrated” or “crap i deleted all my system files and my iPhone is bricked” and you end up restoring it.

Cyder 2 isn’t a program that is Installed. You just run the program. Therefore, you can have multiple Cyder 2 programs in individual Cyder 2 folders, which should be done if you want to create backups for more than one iOS, as compatibility is important.
