Yea, O2′s network does that. I did extensive tests on Vodafone’s network and the worst that happened was the signal dropped to 2G/GPRS/EDGE from 3G. But I had to hunt around the area for a weak Vodafone 3G signal first.
When I was on O2 there was no discernable 3G signal and weak 2G. The nearest 3G antenna in a town of over 20,000 was over a hill 1km away – been like that for seven years since 3G was rolled out. Yet O2′s coverage map says I’m neck deep in the 3G stuff. O2 = crap.
@adamthe1st exactly
why do people complain about this stupidness. just move your hand. and you have to be gripping it really tight for the bars to go down anyway.
you needed a bumper
@iwouldlikesometea how???
have you now got rid of this phone? also will it onyl affect you if you hold it in your left hand.
You hold your phone like a monkey, congratz.
Giant fail!!
This wouldnt be a problem for me because i hold the phone in my right hand so it wont drop the signal
@3012BH

@ashweenaaust
Yeah I was, so I took it back (y)

Settings > General > Usage > Battery Percentage on
you must be pissed man
how do u get the percentage of your battery life ?
Yes the iphone 4′s Reception is crap at times, but its not bad for a free little gadget. (I got mine free btw ;D )
It’s if you hold the bottom left corner
@ST07Enter Just normally Mate, a light grip. It’s stupid.
Are you holding the phone tightly, or as normal in your left hand?
People shouldn’t HAVE to get a cover, I agree… however, if you spend stupid amounts on a phone, and don’t cover it… then in my opinion [in the nicest way possible] you deserve what you get. I know what I get mine this weekend I’ll be buying a cover instantly. Not only does the signal then remain intact, but my glass wont shatter at the slightest bump.
every video i watch about this people are purposefully covering the bottom left side of the phone why dont you just hold it in a way that yur hand doesnt cover the bottom left area? mabey using yur right hand to hold it ? yeah sure it sucks and apple should fix it but you can hold it in ways to avoid this problem =)
I got the iPhone for Free & today i’ve got the cover. Reception has improved considerably.
get a damn rubber thing to go around it
Well… that sucks. I can’t believe that apple shipped the “revolutionary” iPhone 4 with a such big design fault that I assume they knew about.
its because they built the antenna into the metal on the side so when you touch it the reception screws up lol. apple failed big time
@pearlsea That’s not the point. He shouldn’t have to.
